Former spies return to the world of espionage in the upcoming Netflix film Back in Action, starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz.
The two stars play seemingly average parents, who in reality gave up their lives as CIA secret agents to start a family. Years later, the two are dragged back into action when their cover gets blown.
The film’s cast also includes Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline), Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction, Hillbilly Elegy), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers, Fleabag), Jamie Demetriou (Barbie, Fleabag), McKenna Roberts (Skyscraper), and Rylan Jackson (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves).

The project marks Diaz’s first movie role in ten years.
The film made headlines in April 2023, when production was temporarily halted after Foxx was hospitalized in Atlanta for an undisclosed illness. The actor has since recovered and gave a speech in December at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television honoring Black, Latino & AAPI achievements.
Back in Action is directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) from a script he co-wrote with Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors). The film will be released later this year on Netflix.
The streaming service unveiled the first footage from the movie on Thursday, Feb. 1, as part of its “Next on Netflix 2024” preview.
The three-minute trailer also teases Jennifer Lopez in sci-fi adventure Atlas; Kerry Washington in Tyler Perry’s World War II drama Six Triple Eight; Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry in the action thriller The Union; and the preview features new footage of Eddie Murphy as Detective Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
