Actor Naiqui Macabroad made a fiery debut on Chicago P.D., joining the Intelligence Unit following LaRoyce Hawkins’ exit.
In Season 14, Episode 4 titled “My Eye, My Call,” which aired Wednesday, Oct. 28, Macabroad is introduced as Chicago Police Officer Donovan “Penny” Watts, a beat cop who knows the drug game and the players in the ‘hood.
While his older partner avoids danger, Penny runs toward it. The young officer stumbles onto a drug rip gone wrong that grabs the attention of Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and the Intelligence Unit.
Voight and the team arrive on the scene and walk through the stash house where a teenager working security was shot in the head.
Penny was the first officer to arrive and tried to save the victim, who ultimately bled out. The officer tells Voight the young victim likely took the security gig looking for quick cash and wasn’t a serious operator.
Outside the house, Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) finds a food wrapper that Penny recognizes from a nearby corner store. Ruzek and Penny head to the store and convince the owner to give them a copy of his surveillance video.

Penny helps Intelligence work the case, and the investigation reveals the robbery was probably an inside job with three low-level players ripping off their boss.
When the investigation leads them to an arcade, Penny and Voight convince a member of the crew to give up his phone’s passcode by warning he’ll end up behind bars with the guys he stole from if he doesn’t cooperate.
The other two members of the stash house robbery crew wreak more havoc by breaking into a home and holding a woman and her son hostage. Penny arrives on the scene minutes before Intelligence gets there.
Voight tells him to stand down until the unit arrives, but Penny sees a kid’s bicycle outside and sneaks into the house, fearing the people inside are in danger.
After a tense standoff, Ruzek takes a shot through a window and kills one of the armed suspects, allowing Penny to disarm the second guy. The woman and her son are rescued uninjured.
Penny’s commanding officer is tired of him working cases after hours and never looking away, but Voight is impressed and offers him a job in the Intelligence Unit.
