Jonathan Majors has lined up his first role since he was convicted in December 2023 of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Majors, 34, will star in the supernatural revenge thriller Merciless, according to a Thursday report published by The Hollywood Reporter.
Martin Villeneuve is set to direct the film from a script written by Frank Hannah.
The storyline follows a CIA investigator who goes to great lengths after the woman he loves is overpowered by sinister forces. Filming is expected to begin this fall.

Majors was arrested in March 2023, after his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari accused him of assaulting her as they rode in the back of a chauffeured SUV.
The actor’s attorney Priya Chaudhry said he was the real victim, and alleged Jabbari slapped, clawed and physically attacked Majors during the confrontation.
A New York City jury convicted Majors on two misdemeanor counts – one assault charge and one harassment charge. He was acquitted of one count of intentional assault in the third degree and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree.
The day of his conviction, Marvel Studios and parent company Disney dropped Majors, who was set to star in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as villain Kang the Conqueror.
Majors debuted as Kang in the Disney+ series Loki. He played the character in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and was supposed to star in the 2026 film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
The Creed III star was also cut from the upcoming Dennis Rodman biopic 48 Hours in Vegas.
The actor was sentenced in April. He avoided jail time and was ordered to complete a 52-week domestic violence prevention program and mental health treatments.
Majors made his red carpet return with current girlfriend Meagan Good in March, at the 7th annual AAFCA Special Achievement Awards Luncheon in downtown Los Angeles.
I interviewed Majors at the event on behalf of Extra. The actor told me he attended the luncheon “to fellowship” and celebrate the achievements of Black artists.
