Get ready to return to the Land of Oz.

Universal Pictures released the first official trailer for Wicked: For Good, the second half of the two-part film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked.

The trailer opens with Glinda, played by Ariana Grande, calling out: “Elphaba Thropp I know you’re out here, just come in before the monkeys spot you.”

The film picks up with Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo, now labeled as the “Wicked Witch of the West” after uncovering the Wizard’s secrets.

“This is between us, the Wizard and I,” Elphaba says in the trailer. “The wonderful Wizard of Oz. No one believed in you more than I did.”

Director Jon M. Chu previously said the second part would focus on the consequences of Elphaba’s actions, as she goes into hiding and becomes the target of lies, while Glinda stays behind in Oz.

“Elphaba, they’re coming for you,” Glinda warns.

According to the upcoming film’s official description, “As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time. With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.”

“It’s time for both of us to fly,” Elphaba declares.

“You’re the only friend I ever had,” she adds later.

The trailer ends with a nod to the classic story, as Elphaba says, “I’m off to see the Wizard.”

Wicked is based on the bestselling novel by Gregory Maguire and is adapted for the screen by the stage production’s book writer, Winnie Holzman, and Grammy- and Oscar-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.

The Wizard of Oz prequel arrived in theaters in November 2024 and topped the box office. It went on to earn $756 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.

The film earned 10 Oscar nominations, including best actress for Erivo, and best supporting actress for Grande. The film won two Oscars — best costume design and best production design.

Wicked: For Good will premiere Nov. 21, 2025.
