A Tuesday sentencing hearing for Jonathan Majors was suddenly postponed, after the Marvel actor’s legal team filed a new motion to have his guilty verdict in the domestic violence case set aside.
The Feb. 6 hearing had been scheduled to take place in New York City at 9:00 a.m., but local news station Pix 11 reported it was delayed until later in the day.
Majors appeared virtually for the afternoon hearing, and Judge Michael Gaffey set a new sentencing date of April 8. Variety reported the judge said by delaying the sentencing two months, prosecutors will have time to respond to the motion.

On Dec. 18, Majors was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. He faces up to a year in jail following his conviction.
A Manhattan jury convicted Majors on one assault charge and one harassment charge stemming from a confrontation with Jabbari in March. The actor was acquitted of the more serious charges — one count of intentional assault in the third degree and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree.
Majors pleaded not guilty to the charges, which were all misdemeanors.
The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star was arrested after Jabbari accused him of assaulting her on March 25, 2023, as they rode in the back of a chauffeured SUV.
According to court testimony, the March 25 confrontation started when Jabbari noticed a text message on Majors’ phone from a woman named Cleopatra, who wrote “wish I was kissing you.” Jabbari grabbed the phone to read the message. She said Majors responded by twisting her arm behind her back.
Prosecutors told jurors, “He grabbed and squeezed her hand, her right middle finger specifically,” and then “struck a blow that swiped across the right side of her head.”
But the Creed III star’s attorney said he was the real victim, and alleged Jabbari slapped, clawed and physically attacked the actor during the confrontation.
Before his legal saga began, Majors was a rising star in Hollywood.
He was set to have a major role in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as supervillain Kang the Conqueror.
Instead, Marvel cut ties with him shortly after the verdict was announced. He’s also been dropped from the Dennis Rodman biopic 48 Hours in Vegas.
