Major changes are underway at Chicago Fire as the NBC rescue drama enters its 15th season.

Joe Miñoso, who has played firefighter Joe Cruz since the series debuted, is leaving in the upcoming season.

Miñoso confirmed his exit on Wednesday, July 29, by reposting an article about his departure on Instagram. Multiple media outlets reported the actor is expected to briefly appear on the new season to wrap up his storyline.

The series is scheduled to return as part of NBC’s “One Chicago” lineup on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Miñoso joined Chicago Fire as a guest star during the first season in 2012, and was promoted to a series regular role in Season 2. He also appeared in multiple episodes of Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med during crossover events. The actor has not publicly announced his future plans.

News of his departure comes just days after the team behind Chicago Fire announced BMF alum Da’Vinchi will be joining the drama as a series regular in season 15.

The actor shared the news with his followers in a post on Instagram last week and included a caption saying, “Thank you, God.”

He is slated to play Marcus Burke, a firefighter candidate at Firehouse 51, who is described as having “a wry sense of humor” and being “a little defiant,” according to Deadline.

Da’Vinchi previously spent four seasons portraying drug trafficker Terry “Southwest T” Flenory on Starz crime drama BMF before the show was canceled and concluded its run August 2025.

He also played Darnell Hayes over 22 episodes of The CW’s All American, according to his IMDb page.

Da’Vinchi will next appear in the Tyler Perry sequel Why Did I Get Married Again? alongside Sharon Leal, Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, Richard T. Jones, and Taraji P. Henson. The film is scheduled to premiere Sept. 9 on Netflix.
