And Just Like That will be missing a fan favorite when the Max series returns for season 3.
Karen Pittman, who played professor Nya Wallace, has exited the Sex and the City spinoff because of scheduling issues.
Max announced Pittman’s departure on March 22 in a statement to Variety.
“It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That,” the statement said.

Pittman has been part of the cast of AJLT since 2021.
She also stars on Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show and will have a role alongside Wood Harris in the upcoming Netflix series Forever from Mara Brock Akil.
A Max spokesperson said the team at AJLT “thoroughly enjoyed” working with Pittman.
“Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible,” the statement continued. “We are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of Season 3 of And Just Like That. Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”
News of Pittman’s departure follows the exit of Sara Ramirez, who played polarizing comedian and podcaster Che Diaz on the series.
Ramirez posted a lengthy statement to Instagram on Jan. 16, calling Hollywood “duplicitous,” and said artists who support Palestinians in the conflict between Israel and Hamas face being banished from the industry. Ramirez has been a staunch critic of Israeli actions.
The next day, the Daily Mail published an article saying Ramirez was dropped from the show because the Che Diaz character was a “waste of airtime.”
Che was the on-off partner of Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon), but the show insider told the outlet fans couldn’t stand Che.
“After Che split with Miranda, the character really held no value anymore and fans found them annoying. The storyline as a struggling comedian was a waste of airtime and Sara knew it,” the individual said.
And Just Like That was renewed for a third season in August 2023. The series also stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Nicole Ari Parker, and Sarita Choudhury.
A premiere date for season 3 will be announced later.
