Young Thug to Make Acting Debut in Tiffany Haddish Film ‘Throw It Back’

Young Thug is going Hollywood. The Atlanta rapper will make his acting debut in the upcoming musical drama Throw It Back from producers Tiffany Haddish and Paul Feig, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Shahadi Wright Joseph, the young actress known for roles in NBC’s Hairspray Live! and Jordan Peele’s Us, leads the cast of the film as high school senior Wytrellm.

Wytrellm, who has never stood out from the crowd, finally gets her chance to shine. According to the official description, “after a controversial superstar Miami rapper decides to feature the renowned dance team from her high school in his latest music video, it throws the school into chaos, and Wytrell battles for a spot on the squad and her final chance to be in the spotlight.”

In addition to producing, Haddish will have a supporting role. Shadae Lamar Smith directs from a script written he wrote with Rochée Jeffrey. Additional producers include Melanie Clark and Laura Fischer.

Young Thug, 29, is also set to executive produce the film’s soundtrack.

The rapper’s debut studio album “So Much Fun” was released in 2019. His mixtape single “Go Crazy” with Chris Brown debuted last summer and topped the charts.
