Will.i.am Drops New Single and Music Video Endorsing Kamala Harris

Will.i.am is using his music to voice support for Vice President Kamala Harris as she seeks the presidency.

The Black Eyed Peas founding member released a song and music video on Sunday, Nov. 3, just two days before Election Day, endorsing Harris with a track titled “Yes She Can” — a play on former President Barack Obama’s “Yes We Can” slogan.

The anthem opens with the lyrics: “Momma, what’s wrong with America? Why can’t we get along in America?” accompanied by video clips of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

“Something’s going on in America. People entertained by the predator. We used to be united in America. Now we divided in America.”

The music video continues with scenes of people from diverse backgrounds, a theme will.i.am emphasizes as he sings, “We all immigrants, different characters… but together, you know, we could break down the barriers.”

Throughout the track, the Grammy-winning hitmaker calls for unity and participation in the electoral process, urging people to “register and vote for your life,” especially women to “vote for your rights” and prevent those rights from being taken away.

“We could be better than we ever been. We about to have a woman president. Haters’ gonna say that we can’t. But the word American says that ‘I can,’ he continues.

The song ends with the repeated chorus, “Yes, she can.”

The music video also features scenes of people voting, holding “Bans off our bodies” signs, the Statue of Liberty, and a young girl waving an American flag.

In a social media post, will.i.am described the song as “a heartfelt anthem celebrating Kamala Harris and the power of every person.”

He captioned the post, “With Election Day just around the corner, I wanted to score the movement… This is a celebration of resilience, hope, and unstoppable spirit.”

The new release echoes will.i.am’s “Yes We Can” anthem from 2008, a song he produced to support then-presidential candidate Barack Obama.
