The Hollywood Walk of Fame will welcome 32 new honorees next year, including Lil Wayne, Raven-Symoné, Delroy Lindo, Keke Palmer, David Alan Grier, and Grandmaster Flash.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recently announced the Walk of Fame Class of 2027 during a news conference hosted by Walk of Famers Ming-Na Wen and Sheila E. They were joined by Chamber President and CEO Ron Frierson.
The new class includes entertainment industry insiders from the fields of motion pictures, television, music, live performance, sports entertainment, and radio.
“The Walk of Fame Selection Committee is proud to welcome the Class of 2027 to one of the most enduring symbols of achievement in entertainment,” committee chairman Peter Roth said in a statement.
“These 32 extraordinary individuals have each made a lasting impact on audiences around the world through their talent, creativity and dedication to their craft,” Roth added.
Lil Wayne, Grandmaster Flash and Karol G are among the music stars selected for the honor. Country music legend Waylon Jennings will be honored posthumously.
Keke Palmer and Raven-Symoné will receive stars in the television category, along with David Alan Grier, Lisa Kudrow, Pedro Pascal, Adam Scott, Jeff Probst, and producer Bill Lawrence.
The motion picture honorees include Idris Elba, Kate Hudson, Sam Rockwell, Sam Elliott, Ted Sarandos, Delroy Lindo, and comedy duo Cheech & Chong. Sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning will be honored during a double ceremony.
Jo Koy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Roberto Bolle were selected in the live theatre and live performance category.
Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will receive a star for sports entertainment, in a new category that was created in 2023.
Former NFL star Michael Strahan, who now co-hosts Good Morning America and is also an analyst on Fox NFL Sunday, was the first recipient in the category.
Next year, Lenard “Charlamagne tha God” McKelvey will be recognized in the radio category.
The honorees were chosen from hundreds of submissions during a selection committee meeting in May. The Chamber’s Board of Directors approved the Class of 2027 on July 22.
Individual ceremony dates will be announced later. Each recipient has two years to schedule a star ceremony after being selected.
The nominees are usually submitted by record labels, TV networks, movie studios, and fan clubs — that agree to pay the hefty fees involved.
The cost for a star is now $85,000, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce website. The fee is used to pay for the creation and installation of the star, along with maintenance of the Walk of Fame. That’s up from the $75,000 fee implemented at the beginning of 2023, as previously reported.
