Saturday Night Live viewers got a surprise this weekend, when Vice President Kamala Harris made a cameo on the NBC sketch series.

Harris took a detour from campaigning on Nov. 2, to appear in the show’s election-themed cold open — just three days before voters go to the polls.

Comedian Chloe Fineman kicked off the segment as CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, saying the cable news net was standing by for Harris to give a speech in Philadelphia.

Near the end of the segment, cameras cut to Maya Rudolph’s version of the vice president. As Rudolph sat in front of a makeup mirror, the comedian gave herself a pep talk ahead of her final campaign speech in Pennsylvania.

“Gosh, I wish I could talk to someone who’s been in my shoes, you know, a Black, South Asian woman running for president — preferably from the Bay Area,” Rudolph said.

The comedian turned to look in the mirror. Instead of seeing herself, she saw the real Kamala Harris wearing an identical black power suit and pearl necklace.

“You and me both, sister!” Harris responded to Rudolph.

The real vice president then offered her comic counterpart a little advice.

“You’ve got this because you can do something your opponent cannot do — you can open doors,” Harris said, seemingly mocking former President Donald Trump, who made headlines on Oct. 30 as he struggled to open the door of a campaign-themed garbage truck.

Rudolph started laughing hysterically and told Harris, “I see what you did there, like [opening the door] to a garbage truck.”

The real vice president looked surprised by the impression and said, “I don’t really laugh like that, do I?”

Rudolph kept it real and told her, “a little bit.”

The two held hands and Rudolph said, “The American people want to stop the chaos.” Harris added, “And end the drama-la.”

The duo then stood side-by-side and told the nation to “keep calm-ma-la and carry on-a-la.”

Harris and Rudolph finally delivered the show’s signature opening line in unison: “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”

Comedian John Mulaney hosted this weekend’s installment of SNL and pop singer Chappell Roan served as musical guest.

As Harris appeared on SNL, former first lady Michelle Obama and singer Alicia Keys led a rally for the Democratic presidential contender in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
