Wesley Snipes is getting a few laughs at the expense of Marvel’s problem-plagued Blade reboot.
The original Blade star threw a bit of subtle shade at the film on social media over the weekend after several outlets reported director Yann Demange (White Boy Rick and Top Boy) had exited the project.
“Blade, lordylordylordy folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough,” the actor posted on X (formerly Twitter) on June 15. “Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they?”
Just to make it sting a little more, Snipes included a GIF of himself in character as Blade. He didn’t tag Marvel, but the post went viral and likely got the studios’ attention.

Snipes, 61, starred in the first three films in the franchise as the titular half-vampire, half-man who becomes a vampire hunter.
The first movie in the trilogy opened in 1998. It was followed by sequels in 2002 and 2004. To date, the franchise has earned $416.9 million at the worldwide box office, according to The-Numbers.com.
Marvel Studios announced the Blade remake starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight and Green Book) in July 2019.
In November 2023, Variety reported the film had “gone through at least five writers, two directors and one shutdown six weeks before production.”
Last week TheWrap published an article saying veteran Marvel screenwriter Eric Pearson (The Fantastic Four and Black Widow) was brought in to try and salvage the project. The outlet said Mahershala Ali is still attached to the film, for now.
