Today has found its replacement for departing co-host Hoda Kotb.

Savannah Guthrie, who anchors alongside Kotb, announced the name of the new anchor during the Nov. 14 episode of Today.

“We are so excited about the news in our Today family, and that is the person sitting right next to me,” Guthrie said.  “Our dear friend, and talented, wonderful, hard-working, most worthy of this — Craig Melvin is the new anchor of the Today show.”

“I am beyond excited and grateful,” Melvin said in a statement. “This is the latest in a long line of blessings.”

Kotb also praised her replacement. “You are literally made for this job,” the legendary newscaster said. “You are that kind of good. You have all the things that this job needs. You’re the right person for it.”

The daily news program also revealed that the fourth hour will be called Today with Jenna & Friends, starting Jan. 13 until a permanent co-host is named.
