There’s another Jackson family project in the works following the success of Michael.
Marlon Jackson is developing a biographical drama series about family patriarch Joe Jackson titled The Manager, The Mythology, The Legend.
Earlier this week, BLK Prime announced details on the eight-episode first season, with plans for the project to continue for multiple seasons.
The show will trace the controversial music manager’s early years, his personal struggles, and relentless drive to move his family out of poverty in Gary, Indiana.
Marlon Jackson will narrate the authorized project.
“Our father’s life was filled with triumphs, challenges, and an unwavering commitment to our family,” Marlon said in a statement. “This series offers an authentic look at the man behind our legacy, sharing with audiences the remarkable father we knew and loved.”

Joseph Walter Jackson was born in Fountain Hill, Arkansas, and married Katherine Scruse in 1949. They had 10 children together: Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Michael, Randy, La Toya, Janet, Marlon, and Brandon (Marlon’s twin, who died shortly after birth).
Professionally, Joe was best known for managing his talented sons and launching the Jackson 5, made up of Michael, Jermaine, Marlon, Tito and Jackie.
Joe had a reputation for being tough on his sons, and forcing them to endure grueling practice sessions.
Still, the five brothers became one of the most successful groups in music history. Their first four singles — “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “The Love You Save” and “I’ll Be There” all climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Colman Domingo portrayed Joe in Lionsgate’s Michael, but so far, no casting details have been announced for the series.
According to BLK Prime, the show will move beyond the Jackson family’s public image to examine their personal relationships, as well as the pressures and sacrifices behind their success.
“Joe Jackson was a visionary trailblazer who laid the groundwork for one of the most triumphant family dynasties in the realm of music,” said Lauren Pearson, vice president of operations at BLK Prime.
Joe Jackson died in 2018 at age 89.
Casting and pre-production details on the series about his life will be announced in the coming months.
