‘The Forge’ Trailer Offers Lessons on Faith, Family and Mentorship

The trailer for the upcoming film The Forge follows a young man’s journey toward becoming a responsible adult, and the impact a male mentor has on his life in the absence of his father.

The faith-based film comes from the Kendrick brothers — Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick — who are best known for their hit 2015 film War Room.

“We made this film to inspire, challenge and motivate viewers to follow Jesus wholeheartedly,” director Alex Kendrick said in a statement. “Our hope is that audiences around the world will recognize the pivotal role that Godly mentorship plays in shaping the next generation.”

The cast includes Priscilla Shirer Cameron Arnett, Karen Abercrombie, T.C. Stallings, BJ Arnett, Ken Bevel, Former NFL star Benjamin Watson, Jonathan Evans, Jerry Shirer, Tommy Woodard, and Aspen Kennedy.

“It is an honor to partner with the Kendrick Brothers to bring another powerful story to movie screens that will impact people and glorify Jesus,” stated Priscilla Shirer. “The theme of discipleship is near and dear to my heart, especially as a mom to three boys.”

The drama from Sony Pictures’ Affirm Films division and Provident Films is written by Alex and Stephen Kendrick.

Producers include Stephen Kendrick (War Room), Justin Tolley (The Chosen), Aaron Burns (War Room) and Trey Reynolds (Family Camp).

The Forge arrives in theaters on Aug. 23, 2024.
