Terrence Howard is joining Kevin Hart and Samuel L. Jackson in the upcoming Peacock limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.
The drama centers on an armed robbery the night of a historic Muhammad Ali fight.
Howard will play gangster Richard “Cadillac” Wheeler in the series, as reported by TheWrap.
The show is based on the Will Packer-produced iHeartPodcast “Fight Night,” as previously reported. Packer will executive produce the series with Kevin Hart.

According to the official description, Fight Night is set in Atlanta and will tell “the infamous story of how an armed robbery during the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life, but an entire city’s destiny.”
Howard’s casting marks a reunion with filmmaker Craig Brewer, who serves as an executive producer and will direct the first two episodes.
The pair worked together on the 2005 film Hustle & Flow, which earned Howard an Oscar nomination. Brewer also directed the actor on several episodes of Empire and was a producer on the Fox series.
Fight Night creator and writer Shaye Ogbanna (The Chi, God’s Country) serves as showrunner and co-executive produces alongside Jason Horwitch (Echo 3, The Calling).
Additional executive producers include Bryan Smiley and Mike Stein for Hartbeat; Sabrina Wind for Will Packer Media; Conal Byrne, Lars Jacobson, Will Pearson and Carrie Lieberman for iHeartPodcasts; and podcast co-host Jeff Keating. Tiffany Brown and Kenny Burns are also executive producers.
News of Howard’s casting comes after he announced in 2022 that he planned to retire from acting.
In December 2023, the Empire star held a news conference to reveal he was suing his former agents at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for alleged conflict of interest and for urging him to accept a salary lower than he expected to be paid for Empire.
