BET Awards 2024: Who’s Performing and How to Watch

It’s time once again for the BET Awards — the cable network’s annual celebration of Black achievement in music, movies, TV and sports.

The awards air live from Los Angeles tonight and will feature performances by some of the hottest names in R&B and hip hop.

Who’s Performing?
Megan Thee Stallion is set to open the show after releasing her self-titled album Megan on Friday. The LP includes the singles “Hiss,” “Cobra,” and “Boa.”

Will Smith returns to his rap roots and will debut a new original song on the show. The rapper and Oscar-winning actor unveiled the inspirational single titled “You Can Make It” this weekend on Instagram.

Former Fifth Harmony singer Normani, who released her debut solo album Dopamine on June 14, will also take the stage, BET announced this weekend in a show promo.

On Friday, the network added Childish Gambino, Chlöe, Coco Jones, Keke Palmer, Marsha Ambrosius, and Summer Walker to the lineup.

They join previously announced performers Latto (shown above), GloRilla, Ice Spice, Lauryn Hill & YG Marley, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Tyla, Victoria Monét, and Tanner Adell.

Who is this year’s special honoree?
The BET Awards will honor Usher with a lifetime achievement award and musical tribute. The singer has shattered records and earned eight Grammy Awards. Earlier this year, he headlined the Apple Music halftime show at Super Bowl LVIII and released his ninth album, Coming Home.

What time is the show?
Taraji P. Henson returns to host the show for a third time. The BET Awards air live from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, June 30, on BET at 8 PM ET/ PT.

Viewers can also watch will the simulcast on BET Canada, BET Caribbean, Comedy Central, BET Her, BET Her Caribbean, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Pop, TV Land, Nickelodeon at Nite, and VH1.

Who’s nominated?
Drake leads this year’s nominations with seven nods, including album of the year. Nicki Minaj follows with six nominations. J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, and Victoria Monét each have five nominations. 21 Savage, Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Tyla, and Usher are tied with four nominations each.
