‘The Family Business: New Orleans’ Trailer and Release Date Unveiled

Business is brutal and bloody in the trailer for The Family Business: New Orleans.

BET+ released the teaser for the long-awaited series on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The Family Business spin-off follows the New Orleans side of the Duncan family and is set to premiere on Jan. 23.

In the new series, the family is caught in the middle of a Louisiana turf war with corrupt politicians, shady land developers, and crime bosses all competing for a piece of the Duncan’s underground casino and nightclub business. They call on their New York relatives to help deliver their own brand of justice.

“This casino right here, this is my family’s legacy and there is no amount of money that can buy it,” warns Big Shirley Duncan (played by Lela Rochon).

Big Shirley and her son Marquis (played by Brandon T. Jackson) own the Midnight Blues club and refuse to give it up without a fight. But their rivals are plotting for control and bodies are dropping.

“Facing threats at every turn, the Duncans try to keep their family safe and put their complicated pasts to the side for the greater good of their enduring legacy in the NOLA,” according to the official description.

The cast also includes Benjamin Stephens as Curtis Duncan; Pooch Hall as Floyd; David Banner as Jean LeBlanc; Quincy Brown as Prince; Orlando Jones as Gabriel; and Yvette Nicole Brown as Monique.

Created by Carl Weber, the spin-off was first announced in January 2024.

Weber and Nikaya D. Brown Jones serve as showrunners and executive producers. Trey Haley is also an executive producer.

The series begins streaming Thursday, Jan. 23 on BET+. One new episode will debut weekly, with the finale premiering on Thursday, March 6.
