Twenty five years ago, BET launched a music video countdown and interview show called 106 & Park. The show became must-watch TV for hip-hop and R&B fans, now it’s being honored for giving a platform to Black artists and connecting them with fans.
In a press release on Tuesday, May 6, BET announced it’s planning a 106 & Park tribute at the upcoming BET Awards and former hosts A.J. Calloway, Free, Julissa Bermudez, Keshia Chanté, Rocsi Diaz, and Terrence J will reunite on stage.
The 25th anniversary celebration will also include a performance featuring former 106 & Park host Bow Wow, along with friends of the show: Amerie, B2K, Jim Jones, Mya, and T.I., with additional artists to be announced later.

Created by Stephen G. Hill, 106 & Park premiered on September 11, 2000 with original hosts A.J. Calloway and Free. Jermaine Dupri and Lil Bow Wow were the inaugural guests.
In 2005, Big Tigger and Julissa Bermudez stepped in as hosts. They were followed by Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz in 2006, with Bow Wow joining as co-host in 2012. The final chapter featured a rotating cast including Miss Mykie, Paigion, Shorty da Prince, Angela Simmons, and Keshia Chanté, leading up to the show’s finale on Dec. 19, 2014 after 3,710 episodes.
Initially produced in East Harlem, the show’s name was inspired by its first home — NEP’s Metropolis Studios — located at East 106th Street and Park Avenue.
Earlier this year, several outlets reported BET was working on a 106 & Park reboot. Perhaps there will be an official announcement at the BET Awards.
The ceremony airs live on BET from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 8 pm ET/PT.
