Bigger, fresher, funnier, that’s what Kevin Hart says viewers can expect when he takes the stage as host of the 2025 BET Awards.

The comedian and actor has been announced as this year’s emcee, with BET revealing the news in a trailer produced by his Hart’s company, Hartbeat Productions.

This year marks a milestone edition of the BET Awards, celebrating 25 years of honoring Black achievement in music, movies, television, and sports.

“Did somebody talk to Lenny Kravitz and DJ Mustard? I don’t care how good they think they look in leather vests — it’s black tie, it’s black tie this year,” Hart jokes in the trailer.

“Look, we’re raising the bar, alright? You make sure I look good, okay,” he adds, before literally taking things “higher” by dangling midair on cables.

“I love a celebration! It’s a chance to reflect, cherish, and honor life’s unforgettable moments,” Hart said in a statement. “I’m truly honored to host the 25th BET Awards and celebrate the culture’s biggest night. This year marks the 25th anniversary, and my partners at Hartbeat, BET, and JCE are pulling out all the stops to make it a night to remember. It’s a Black-Tie affair, and you’re all invited. Tune in live on June 9th, only on BET.”

Hart has a long history with the network. He first hosted BET’s stand-up showcase Comic View: One Night Stand back in 2008. Then in 2023, he helped reboot the series. He also co-created and starred in Real Husbands of Hollywood, a scripted parody that debuted on BET in 2013, and that also got a reboot in 2022.

Most recently, in March, BET+ launched Lil Kev, an adult animated comedy based on Hart’s childhood, produced by Hartbeat.

“For over a decade, Kevin Hart has been a beloved part of the BET family, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him return to host the 25th anniversary BET Awards,” said Scott Mills, President and CEO of BET.

Empire actress Taraji P. Henson hosted the awards for the previous three consecutive. The BET Awards will air live from Los Angeles on Monday, June 9 at 8:00 PM ET on BET.
