‘Trophy Wife’ Thriller Starring Sean Patrick Thomas, Erica Peeples Coming to BET+

Trophy Wife, a new thriller about depression, betrayal, greed and murder, will begin streaming April 28 on BET+.

The original film stars Sean Patrick Thomas (Till), Erica Peeples (True to the Game), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Bel-Air) and Tiffany Black (P-Valley).

The movie comes from executive producer Tressa Azarel Smallwood of MegaMind Media. Producers include Kristin Iris Johnson, Charles Jones, Donte Lee and Smallwood.

“We are honored and forever grateful to BET/Viacom for this opportunity to showcase the work of our stellar cast and crew in a gripping original film that is a must-see rollercoaster ride with the creative ability to entertain an all-ages audience in the midst of demanding times,” Smallwood said in a statement Friday.

Here’s the official description: “Former model, Toni Carter (Erica Peeples), seems to have the perfect life with a beautiful home and a husband who’s making waves in the tech industry. On the outside everything looks great but in reality, she deals with a husband she loves who works too much, won’t give her the kids he promised, and can’t seem to keep his hands off other women all while depression and anxiety threaten to get the best of her. Determined to make it work, the two renew their commitment to each other. After hosting the ultimate 10-year anniversary party for his company, Marc, portrayed by Sean Patrick Thomas, comes up missing and is soon found murdered. With both Marc’s family and his business partner all clawing at Toni for his money, it’s anyone’s guess who truly killed him.”

Additional cast members include Tray Chaney, Chris Sakyi, Ruby Hayes, Shawn Michelle Cosby, Teresa Celeste, Darren Cain, and Paden Fallis.

The film is written by Lori Ray Conway and directed by Christian Sesma. Trophy Wife begins streaming April 28 on BET+.
