It’s been thirty years since Martin premiered on Fox and now the stars of the sitcom are getting back together for a reunion special on BET+ later this year.
The reunion will feature interviews with series stars Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold and Carl Anthony Payne II. It will also include behind-the-scenes commentary, special guest appearances and musical performances, according to a recent press release from BET.
“To be able to sit here thirty years later with this amazing cast that has had such an impact on pop culture is truly a blessing. I am always humbled that the fans still want more of the show and its characters. I am looking forward to the reunion special,” Lawrence said in a statement.
Added Scott Mills, CEO of BET, “We’re so excited to honor a series that put Black culture front and center on our platform that embraces Black culture everyday.”

With Tisha Campbell confirmed for the reunion lineup, it appears she and Lawrence have put their differences aside. Campbell quit the show in 1996 but then came back for the final season in March 1997.
When Campbell left the series, she was sued by the show’s producers, People magazine reported at the time. She then countersued Lawrence for “repeated and escalating sexual harassment, sexual battery, verbal abuse and related threats.” The suit was eventually settled out of court and Campbell returned to the show as long as Lawrence was off the set while she was filming.
Campbell now seems to be excited about reuniting with her fellow Martin cast members, including Lawrence. She uploaded several behind-the-scenes pictures and videos of the reunion taping on Sunday. Her caption for one of the photos said: “When I say y’all gonna be excited!”
Martin ran for five seasons on FOX from 1992 to 1997.
The reunion is executive produced by Martin Lawrence, Robert Lawrence, Rae Proctor and Stacy Lyles through his company Run Tel Dat Entertainment.
Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon also serve as executive producers along with Jeannae Rouzan-Clay who is also the showrunner. The show is executive produced and directed by Stan Lathan. The special is written by Nile Evans as well as Bentley Kyle Evans who also serves as a co-executive producer. Jesse Collins Entertainment’s Brittany Brazil is a producer.
BET+ will announce the official premiere date for the reunion special later.
