Tommy Davidson reconnected with former In Living Color co-star Damon Wayans on CBS comedy Poppa’s House.

Davidson co-starred on the Wayans’ family comedy on Monday’s episode titled “Elevator Friend.”

In a recent interview with Urban Hollywood 411, Davidson explained how the role came together.

“I would figure it came out in the writers’ room somewhere, and they said, ‘Who do you think can play this role?’ And I’m sure my name came up,” said Davidson. “Anytime they need somebody for a role and I can make it funny and make it different, they know I can do a little bit of that.”

Davidson’s character “Jarnold” is an old acquaintance that Poppa (Wayans) met riding the elevator at work. The two reconnect because Poppa has an extra baseball ticket and sadly, no real friends to take to the game.

Jarnold has a lot of quirks, like scatting, à la a jazz singer when he gets nervous.

“It’s probably, they got that from the real me because I’m always doing that. There’s a lot happening in here. I’m just a rhythmic person, very expressive,” Davidson answered when asked where the idea for the scatting came from.

As for when fans might see the rest of the In Living Color cast together again, Davidson said it’s up to one person — series creator Keenen Ivory Wayans.

“I feel like it’s going to happen when Keenen finally decides that it’s the right time,” Davidson said about a potential reunion.

“We all trust him. He basically took the talents that we had, combined them, and gave us this next 25 to 30 years of being out there, being able to do good stuff and all kinds of genres, all because he knew that we were the person that he wanted. He knew we had it,” the actor and comedian added.

The sketch comedy series aired from 1990 to 1994 on Fox and became a launching pad for Davidson, the Wayans brothers, Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey, Jennifer Lopez, David Alan Grier, Kim Coles, and Carrie Ann Inaba.

In addition to his acting career, Davidson has a new single out with Earth, Wind & Fire called “Stronger,” and a portion of the proceeds will go toward assisting Altadena residents who lost their homes in the Los Angeles wildfires.

You can see Tommy Davidson and Damon Wayans together again tonight on Poppa’s House at 8:30 PM ET/PT on CBS.

The episode was directed by Kelly Park and written by Michael Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr.
