Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye stars as a musician who struggles to sleep in the upcoming Lionsgate film Hurry Up Tomorrow.
With his battle against insomnia unfolding, the musician is “pulled into an odyssey with a stranger (Jenna Ortega) that begins to unravel the very core of his existence,” according to the official description.
Oscar-nominated actor Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) also stars in the psychological thriller.
The film is directed and written by Trey Edward Shults (It Comes At Night, Waves), with Grammy-winning singer Tesfaye serving as a co-writer alongside Shults and Reza Fahim.
The movie will be released in theaters on May 16, and features new music from The Weeknd who scored the film with Daniel Lopatin.

The thriller is inspired by The Weeknd’s sixth studio album, also titled Hurry Up Tomorrow, which was released through XO and Republic Records on Jan. 31.
The album had originally been scheduled to drop on Jan. 24, followed by a concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., but the event was shelved because of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County.
Out of respect for those impacted by the fires, The Weeknd canceled the concert and donated $1 million dollars to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s LAFD Foundation, and other relief organizations, his reps said in a statement to Urban Hollywood 411.
Proceeds from the album track “Take Me Back To LA” will be donated to the LA Regional Food Bank, which is providing emergency food assistance to those directly affect by the wildfires.
