Tom Cruise brought Hollywood glitz to Paris on Sunday for the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games.
In a stunt reminiscent of his Mission Impossible movies, Cruise rappelled from the roof of the Stade de France.
Strapped into a harness and using cables, the action star floated through the air. After he landed safely on the ground, he walked through the crowd of Olympic athletes, shook hands and posed for selfies.
Cruise, 62, then sprinted onto the stage and picked up the five-ringed Olympic flag from gold-medal winning gymnast Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
Bass was there for the handover ceremony from Paris to Los Angeles for the LA 2028 Games.

As part of the handover, Bay Area native H.E.R. performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” in Paris, complete with a rock guitar solo.
Cruise later hopped on a waiting motorcycle and carried the flag out of the stadium to begin its journey to Los Angeles.
A pre-recorded video showed him riding the motorcycle onto a transport plane. “I’m on my way!” Cruise said after receiving a phone call. Moments later, he parachuted into L.A. and handed the flag to U.S. cyclist Kate Courtney.
She then passed the flag to retired Olympic sprinter Michael Johnson who jogged through the streets of L.A. and passed the flag to famed skateboarder Jagger Eaton.
Eaton skated around the city and ended his journey at Venice Beach.

The ceremony continued with performances by Southern California natives Billie Eilish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Snoop Dogg, who offered commentary for NBC throughout the 2024 Olympics, later strutted onto the stage in his hometown of Long Beach to perform his hit 2004 single “Drop It Like It’s Hot” in front of a large crowd and an LA 28 sculpture.
Moments later, Snoop and his backing dancer were joined by his friend and fellow rap legend Dr. Dre.
The two ended the handoff portion of the ceremony by performing Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode” (2000) — ushering in the next summer Olympics in 2028.
