What was touted as “the greatest roast of all time” is now the most popular TV title on Netflix. But its star Tom Brady says the jokes about his family were so brutal, he “wouldn’t do that again.”
“I loved when the jokes were about me,” Brady said Tuesday, May 14, on “The Pivot” sports podcast. “I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way it affected my kids.”
Brady is dad to Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11 with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, and son Jack, 16, with former girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.

The retired NFL star and seven-time Super Bowl champion said he wanted to do the roast because he knew comedian Jeff Ross. Although he now admits he didn’t “see the full picture at the time.”
“I wouldn’t do that again because of the way it affected, actually, the people I care about the most in the world,” he explained.
Still, he admitted he learned a “good lesson.”
“I’m gonna be a better parent as I go forward because of it,” he said, “and at the same time, I’m happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun.”
The Roast of Tom Brady streamed live on Sunday, May 5, as part of the Netflix Is a Joke festival.
During the three-hour roast, Brady was skewered by his former teammates, his ex-coach Bill Belichick, and comedians including Jeff Ross and host Kevin Hart.
Several comics joked about Brady’s divorce from Bündchen, and his split from Moynahan before the Blue Bloods actress gave birth to their son.
“You retired, then you came back and then you retired again, I get it, it’s hard to walk away from something that’s not your pregnant girlfriend, it’s tough,” comedian Nikki Glaser said.
Glaser and the other comics ribbed Brady about Bündchen’s current relationship with her jiu-jitsu instructor.
“How much would it suck for Tom… omg, just knowing your ex-wife’s new boyfriend could beat your a–- while eating hers,” Glaser joked.
Despite the hard-hitting jokes, the roast was a huge hit with viewers.
On May 14, Netflix announced it was the #1 title over the past week on the streamer’s list of English-language TV shows, with 13.8 million views.
The streamer said another live event from the comedy festival, Katt Williams: Woke Foke took the #4 spot with 4.3 million views.
Woke Foke debuted at #1, and included jokes about Diddy, Nick Cannon, Lizzo and reparations.
