Showtime is adding more familiar faces to the season 7 cast of The Chi.
On Monday, the network announced Kyla Pratt (The Proud Family, Call Me Kat), Punkie Johnson (Saturday Night Live, Love Life), Reagan Gomez (The Parent ‘Hood, Queen Sugar), and Tammy Townsend (Average Joe, Queen Sugar) are joining the series in guest starring roles.
Pratt is set to play “Angie,” Hannibal’s tough as nails wife who doesn’t tolerate anything less than her home being happy.
Johnson will portray “Shawnita,” a career restaurant manager who’s ready to whip Smokey’s into shape.

Gomez has been tapped to play “Candace,” a textbook lover girl gone bad whose spicy new love interest is keeping her on her toes.
Townsend will portray “Nora,” a charming and scrappy entrepreneur who dreams of using her business to help others.
These latest additions follow the casting last month of Phylicia Rashad, Wendy Raquel Robinson, and Karrueche Tran in guest roles, as previously reported.
Season 7 will follow Alicia taking control, setting the stage for a dramatic power struggle among the women of The Chi. “Yet as loyalties are tested and new rivalries are stoked, it becomes clear there’s only one crown and it will come at a heavy cost,” according to the official description.
The returning cast includes Jacob Latimore, Lynn Whitfield, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Birgundi Baker, and Luke James.
Additional cast members are Kadeem Hardison, Chris Lee, Brett Gray, Rotimi, Jackie Long, Charmin Lee, and Jill Marie Jones, alongside Hannaha Hall, Jason Weaver, La La Anthony, Vic Mensa, Kandi Burruss, Tai Davis, Rolando Boyce, Ahmad Ferguson, Cortez Smith, Genesis Denise Hale, Joel Steingold, Judae’a Brown, Zaria Imani Primer, L’lerrét Jazelle, and Brian Keys.
Season 6 was record-breaking for the series, with viewership surging nearly 25 percent over season 5, according to Showtime.
Created and executive produced by Emmy winner Lena Waithe under her Hillman Grad banner, the series is co-executive produced by co-showrunners Justin Hillian and Jewel Coronel. Award-winning rapper Common is also an executive producer on the show.
The new season of The Chi will premiere on-demand and via streaming for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan on Friday, May 16. The series will then make its on-air debut on Sunday, May 18, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
