‘The Chi’ Adds Phylicia Rashad, Karrueche Tran, Wendy Raquel Robinson to Season 7 Cast

Season 7 of The Chi will feature a star-studded guest cast.

Phylicia Rashad (The Beekeeper, This is Us), Karrueche Tran (Claws, Bel Air), and Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Game, Poppa’s House) are all joining the series in guest starring roles, Showtime announced Tuesday.

Rashad will play “Renee,” one of the few people who sees Pastor Zeke (Daniel J. Watts) for who he really is and can get through to him, the network said in a press release.

Robinson is set to portray “Riley Dalton,” who is sweet but also direct. She has suffered great loss, which allows her to help others during the most trying times in their lives.

Tran will play “Zuri,” a woman who always seems to find trouble no matter where she goes.

The returning cast includes Jacob Latimore, Lynn Whitfield, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Birgundi Baker, and Luke James.

Additional cast members are Kadeem Hardison, Chris Lee, Brett Gray, Rotimi, Jackie Long, Charmin Lee, and Jill Marie Jones, alongside Hannaha Hall, Jason Weaver, La La Anthony, Vic Mensa, Kandi Burruss, Tai Davis, Rolando Boyce, Ahmad Ferguson, Cortez Smith, Genesis Denise Hale, Joel Steingold, Judae’a Brown, Zaria Imani Primer, L’lerrét Jazelle, and Brian Keys.

Season 7 follows Alicia taking control, setting the stage for a dramatic power struggle among the pivotal women of The Chi. “Yet as loyalties are tested and new rivalries are stoked, it becomes clear that there’s only one crown and it will come at a heavy cost,” according to the official description.

Season 6 was record-breaking for the series, with viewership surging nearly 25 percent over season 5.

The new season will premiere on-demand and via streaming for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan on Friday, May 16. The series will then make its on-air debut on Sunday, May 18, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Created and executive produced by Emmy winner Lena Waithe under her Hillman Grad banner, the series is co-executive produced by co-showrunners Justin Hillian and Jewel Coronel. Award-winning rapper Common is also an executive producer on the show.
