The five superheroes of Netflix’s Supacell will return for a second season.
The streaming platform announced the renewal on Tuesday, Aug. 13, after the show’s first season topped its global TV series list and stayed in the top 10 for six weeks.
The drama is created by British rapper, record producer and filmmaker Rapman (Blue Story). In a statement Tuesday, Rapman said he’s already mapping out the storyline for the second season.
“I can’t wait for the world to see Supacell season 2,” Rapman stated. “For me, season 1 was always an origin story. Season 2 is when the journey really begins. Season 1 was my Batman Begins; Season 2 is my Dark Knight.”

The cast features Eric Kofi Abrefa, known for his role as Lamar on BMF, and Tosin Cole (61st Street and Till).
The show follows five South Londoners who unexpectedly gain superpowers. Despite their differences, they must come together, with one man (Cole) leading the charge to save the woman he loves.
According to the official description, the series depicts a regular group of people suddenly endowed with superpowers. Before they can fully understand their abilities, they find themselves targeted by a powerful agency responsible for their new abilities.
Rapman describes Michael (Cole) as a “warm, likable character,” but hints that a significant loss might alter him.
“You can have the nicest person in the world. You push that person too far, and that person has the extraordinary power? You could create something very dangerous,” Rapman said.
The series also stars Nadine Mills as Sabrina, Calvin Demba as Rodney, Josh Tedeku as Tazer, Adelayo Adedayo as Dionne, Rayxia Ojo as Charleen, Giacomo Mancini as Spud, and Eddie Marsan as Ray.
Season 1 of Supacell premiered in June and is currently streaming on Netflix.
