A day after Tamar Braxton posted a string of distressing tweets calling her family “toxic” and saying she was “single and sad,” the singer and reality star is now facing backlash for claiming she was simply trying to prove a point.
The Braxton Family Values star made headlines on Monday almost immediately after she posted those since-deleted tweets.
In one tweet, Braxton suggested her on-off relationship with fiancé Jeremy “JR” Robinson was off again. “Y’all I’m going through it. I’m single and sad and this TV sh-t is a lot,” the reality star wrote.
Adding to the confusion, she professed her love for Robinson in a second tweet and referred to him as her husband — although the two have never publicly said they were married.
“JR means the world to me… thank God for him… my husband and my children has saved my life!!!! But, I’m so mad at my life… my family is TOXIC!!!” she posted Monday.

Fast forward to Tuesday and Braxton shared a statement on her Instagram Stories, saying she wrote those earlier tweets simply to see how people would react.
“I think it’s funny when I post something negative it goes viral… when I post something positive no one pays attention… y’all proved me right on what y’all want from me. Why can’t I be healthy and healed? Y’all was WAITING for my life to fall apart @jeremyrobinsonceo is and has been the most positive person in my life and my best friend and family… and y’all want me to say something bad about him SOOO BAD!! But post my #1 singles and my new album with @trickystewart and bringing a network back from the dead… this is terrible,” the statement read.
The Shade Room made a screengrab and reposted the statement on Instagram. Social media users filled the comments section, with many of them telling Braxton, 47, to grow up and stop the shenanigans.
“Tamar you really are too old for this. Go to therapy and heal get off the internet with this mess,” one person wrote.
“Gurl are you 15? Tf?!” another person wrote.
“I’m gone need her to give social media a break hunni. Girl Bye,” someone else said.
“Baby please go heal,” another person shared.
Braxton may have proven a point, but her viral tweets rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
