Jigsaw is supposed to be dead, but someone just like him is playing morbid games in Spiral: From the Book of Saw.
A new trailer for the horror film dropped Tuesday and shows Chris Rock’s Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks getting a package delivered. Once Rock opens the box, there’s a jump drive inside that says “play me.” The drive contains a message from someone who sounds a lot like the original Jigsaw killer previously played by Tobin Bell.
“Wait. I thought the Jigsaw killer was dead,” says Rock’s rookie partner played by Max Minghella. “He is,” Rock responds.
The detective then turns to Samuel L. Jackson’s veteran investigator Marcus for help with the case. Jackson tells him they’re looking at a Jigsaw copycat and the situation could “go sideways fast.”

The film also stars Marisol Nichols, and is produced by the original Saw team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules. Darren Lynn Bousman directs from a script written by Josh Stolberg & Pete Goldfinger. Rock serves as executive producer.
Spiral is the ninth installment in the hit Saw franchise. The first film was released in 2004, paving the way for the franchise to gross nearly $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
The new Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures film has moved around the release calendar a couple of times during the coronavirus pandemic.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw is now slated to arrive in theaters on Friday, May 14.
