‘SNL’: Michael Che Fears Chris Rock Will Ruin ‘Saw’ Movies

You may have heard, Chris Rock is set to reboot the Saw horror movie franchise.

While some fans were thrilled by the news, Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” co-host Michael Che has concerns, specifically how Rock will change the films.

Che launched into a segment about Rock’s new movie deal this weekend on the season 44 finale of SNL.

“Comedian Chris Rock is teaming up with Lionsgate on a reboot of the movie Saw, which I assume he will be calling “Seent,” Che said. He then began laughing so hard, he couldn’t maintain his composure. “That’s a fun joke,” he quipped.

Ebonics-influenced title aside, Rock is for real remaking Saw.

On Thursday the writer, producer, director released a statement saying he plans to put his own spin on the franchise, and will create a new installment from a story he conceptualized.

“I’ve been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004,” Rock said. “I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.”

The Saw films launched in 2004 and ended in 2017, earning more than $1 billion worldwide.

Rock didn’t say what he plans to call the next installment of Saw, but we’re guessing it won’t be “Seent.”
