A shooting outside Drake’s sprawling mansion in Toronto, Canada has left a security guard seriously injured.
Police were called to the home around 2 a.m. local time on Tuesday, May 7. A man suffering from at least one gunshot wound was found at the location and rushed to an area hospital, CBC News reported.
The security guard was working outside the gate of the home in Toronto’s affluent Bridle Path neighborhood when he was shot, police inspector Paul Krawczyk told reporters at the scene.
The man underwent surgery and was listed in serious condition.

Krawczyk declined to answer if Drake, born Aubrey Graham, was home when the shooting occurred. “We are in contact with his team and they are cooperating,” Krawczyk said at a news conference.
“Information is very limited at this time,” Krawczyk explained.
Sources told CBC News the incident was a drive-by shooting. Among the security guard’s injuries was a gunshot wound to the chest. He is expected to survive.
Drake is currently involved in a feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. The two hip-hop stars have each released diss tracks attacking the other.
Drake accused the Compton rapper of domestic violence on the single “Family Matters.” Kendrick fired back in “Not Like Us” by accusing Drake of preying on underage girls, which the Canadian rapper denied.
The track referred to Drake and an associate as “certified pedophiles.” It trended on social media and broke the all-time record for biggest single day streams of a hip-hop song in US Spotify history, Chart Data reported Tuesday.
When asked if the shooting had anything to do with the feud, Krawczyk said no motive has been determined.
Police are currently looking through surveillance video for clues.
Drake’s 50,000 square foot mansion, known as “The Embassy,” was featured in Architectural Digest in 2020.
The rapper is one of the best-selling recording artists of all time and one of the biggest stars in Canada. He began his entertainment career as a child actor on teen program Degrassi: The Next Generation before segueing into music.
The five-time Grammy Award winner is known for hit songs including “One Dance,” “God’s Plan,” and “Hotline Bling.”
