Tracy Morgan is returning to TV in a spinoff of The Neighborhood titled Crutch.

The actor and comedian will executive produce and star in the series as Francois “Frank” Crutchfield, producer CBS Studios said in a press release on Monday, May 6. The series will stream on Paramount+.

The main character is described as a “Harlem widower whose empty nest plans are put on hold after his millennial son and free-spirited daughter move back home.”

Per Morgan, “Crutch will be navigating the ups and downs of having his kids and grandkids back under one roof, and you know if I am doing this, there will be plenty of laughs along the way.”

The half-hour comedy comes from Cedric The Entertainer’s A Bird and a Bear Entertainment.

“I’m excited to be expanding our The Neighborhood universe, by producing a show with the legendary comedian Tracy Morgan,” said Cedric. “This new character is the close cousin to my character Calvin Butler and you will enjoy some of their many similarities.”

Cedric is an executive producer alongside Eric C. Rhone and Owen Smith, who wrote the premiere script and will also serve as showrunner. Additional executive producers include Aaron Kaplan for Kapital Entertainment and Wendi Trilling for TrillTV.

Smith previously worked as showrunner and executive producer on The Last O.G., which starred Morgan and ran on TBS from 2018 to 2021.

Crutch is slated to begin production later this year.

A premiere date will be announced later.
