A crew member on the Rust film set is recovering after a spider bite left him hospitalized and fighting to save his arm.

Jason Miller “was bitten by a brown recluse spider [and] in a matter of days he experienced severe symptoms including necrosis of his arm and sepsis,” said a statement on the GoFundMe page set up by his family.

Miller went through multiple surgeries to save his arm from amputation.

The goal for the page was to raise $5,000 and supporters surpassed the goal by donating more than $10,000.

It will be a very long road to recovery for Jason if the medical team at Abq Lovelace is able to save his arm. If under worse circumstances he loses his arm, this is a life-changing and devastating event for Jason and his family,” the page said.

The film has continued to make headlines after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot on set last month.

As previously reported on Oct. 21, Alec Baldwin discharged a “prop firearm” on the set of Rust, killing the cinematographer and wounding the director outside Santa Fe, New Mexico, authorities said.

The case is currently under investigation and Baldwin has not been charged.
