Kerrion Rashad Franklin, the 33-year-old son of gospel music legend Kirk Franklin, was arrested in California over the weekend during a traffic and is now being held in connection with an unrelated murder case.

Los Angeles County inmate booking records show Kerrion, who appears on Zeus Network series Bad Boys: Los Angeles, was taken into custody Sunday morning in Beverly Hills and is being held with “no bail.”

Kerrion spoke by phone with Larry Reid of “Larry Reid Live,” an Atlanta-based digital entertainment show. The reality star told Reid he was “wrongfully arrested” after being pulled over for a broken taillight.

Reid said officers found a gun in Kerrion’s car, and the vehicle the reality star was driving belonged to a woman who was reported missing in Texas and is presumed dead.

Kerrion insisted there was no gun “that was his” in the vehicle. He also said he doesn’t believe the woman is dead. “I don’t think that’s true because I’ve met the woman who sold me the car,” he explained, adding that he owns the car.

He then accused police of trying to “slap” additional charges on him, including resisting arrest.

“I’m just keeping my mind positive. I really do aim to live a righteous lifestyle, all of this is unnecessary. I just want you guys to keep me in your prayers,” Kerrion told Reid.

The reality star is expected to be extradited to Texas soon in connection with the death investigation.

In 2021, Kerrion made headlines after he posted an audio recording of an argument he had with his famous father. His dad Kirk Franklin later spoke out about the incident saying he “lost it in the moment.” He added that their relationship had been strained for years.

“That was just a revelation of what’s been going on for years. We’ve been in a very painful place for years, but I will say this, even though my son chose to try to expose me publicly as a father, I will never expose him publicly as a son,” Franklin said.
