Kandi Burruss is adding another role to her busy schedule.
The singer, reality star, entrepreneur, and actress joins the second season of Hulu drama series, Reasonable Doubt.
Burruss takes on the recurring guest role of “Eboni Phillips” — described in a recent press release from Hulu as “wild in a former life but has since cleaned herself up.”
The show’s main cast includes Emayatzy Corinealdi, Morris Chestnut, McKinley Freeman, Tim Jo, Angela Grovey, Aderinsola Olabode, and Thaddeus J. Mixson.

Burruss is best known for starring on The Real Housewives of Atlanta for 12 seasons. The Georgia native also owns several businesses and is a singer-songwriter, whose music credits include Destiny’s Child’s “Bills, Bills, Bills,” Pink’s “There You Go,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” and TLC’s Grammy-winning “No Scrubs.”
Burruss rose to fame in the 1990s as part of girl group Xscape. In 2000, she became the first woman to be honored with ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul Music Award for Songwriter of the Year.
In addition to her work in music and reality TV, she’s had acting roles on Showtime’s The Chi, Lifetime’s Envy: A Seven Deadly Sins Story, and she produced Broadway’s Thoughts of a Colored Man.
On Reasonable Doubt, her character Eboni is the mother of JT’s child.
Here’s the official synopsis for season 2: “After trying to heal from her wounds from last season’s arduous trial and deadly affair, Jax Stewart is attempting to get her life back on track. That is until one of her closest friends reveals that she has killed her husband. Her friend is claiming self-defense, but an uncompromising prosecutor thinks otherwise. Needing all the help she can get, Jax brings in an ambitious defense attorney to lead the case, but things get tense very quickly.”
The series is created, written and executive produced by Raamla Mohamed.
Kerry Washington executive produces alongside Pilar Savone, Larry Wilmore, and Anton Cropper. Shawn Holley, Jon Leshay, Tamara Gregory, Lena Cordina, TASH Gray and Resheida Brady serve as co-executive producers.
Reasonable Doubt is produced by ABC Signature and comes from Onyx Collective — a division of Disney Television Studios that brings projects from creators of color and underrepresented voices to audiences via Hulu.
