Kandi Burruss is not okay with her good friend Kenya Moore’s abrupt exit from season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
In a new Amazon Live chat with fans about the benefits of Amazon Prime, the issue of Moore’s departure from RHOA came up.
“Unfortunately my girl Kenya was a part of this season and there was an incident that happened — I wasn’t there, I can’t give you details of what happened, but it makes me sad,” she said. “I’m not lying about how I feel because she is my friend, I do love her. I do not know the other young lady so it’s not a diss to her.”
On June 25, multiple media outlets confirmed that Bravo was parting ways with Moore, as previously reported. Some outlets said the longtime housewife was fired, while others stated that she was “taking a break” from season 16 of the reality series with an option to return.

Moore’s exit came shortly after she was suspended indefinitely for allegedly displaying posters with explicit images of new peach-holder Brittany Eady at the opening of her Kenya Moore Hair Spa in Atlanta.
In leaked audio from the June 6 opening, Moore seemingly called the newcomer an “escort” and “paid hoe.” The Neighborhood Talk reported the two had reportedly been on the outs for some time, and at one point Eady allegedly told Moore: “I have a gun for b–es like you.”
In February, Kandi announced she was leaving RHOA after 14 seasons. The singer, songwriter, Broadway producer and entrepreneur said Bravo was taking too long to decide on a season 16 cast and she had other projects she needed to focus on.
In her Amazon Live chat, Kandi admitted Kenya “goes far sometimes,” but she insisted her friend wouldn’t “make up anything about anybody.”
Instead of pushing Kenya out, she suggested the show’s producers should have considered a different resolution.
“I just hate how, because of this situation, they’ve decided to part ways. I just felt like, ‘Oh dang, there wasn’t anything else they could do?’” she said.
Kandi said Kenya helped make the show more interesting.
“I don’t care who disagrees, I feel like it’s the end of an era,” she said. “It doesn’t matter if you didn’t like her or whatever. You’re always gonna need somebody who doesn’t mind being real and keeping it 100 on camera, pushing the story, meaning bringing up things that other people are trying to avoid.”
Before ending the chat, Kandi had a message for her friend.
“We’re gonna miss you Kenya,” she said. “Well I ain’t gonna miss you, I’m still gonna see you, we’re gonna have fun.”
