When NBC’s hit reality competition The Voice returns for season 15 this fall, Jennifer Hudson will be taking Alicia Keys’ seat in the coaches’ section.

Hudson, who appeared in Season 13 of the show last fall, will coach alongside Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, while Keys, who first appeared as a coach in 2016, will not be back next season.

Coaching shakeups are nothing new for the show, as Gwen Stefani hasn’t made the lineup since spring 2017, and longtime coach Christina Aguilera hasn’t appeared since 2016. Shelton and Levine have remained constants, however, appearing every season since the show launched in 2011.

The Voice tweeted a video Friday of Clarkson and Hudson, who both rose to fame after competing on American Idol, announcing that they’d be back for Season 15.

Clarkson threw down a challenge for Levine and Shelton, declaring, “The girls against the boys, y’all! … We’re coming after you Adam and Blake… we’re friends but we’re future frenemies!”

The American Idol winner also shared a video to Instagram of Jennifer “stealing her phone” to reveal the big news.

Jennifer said, “Shhh… Kelly doesn’t know but I snuck and I stole her phone. … I wanted to tell y’all a little secret. Guess who’s coming back to The Voice? Me!”

According to Variety, a rep for NBC said of the decision to cast Hudson and Clarkson, “We are so excited to welcome back Kelly and Jennifer, two dynamic forces who bring undeniable soul, passion and inspiration as coaches.”

As for what Keys might be working on next, Deadline reported in March that she was producing a biopic of famed choreographer Alvin Ailey.
