Courtney B. Vance plans the heist of the century in the trailer for Showtime’s Heist 88.

Inspired by one of the biggest bank heists in U.S. history, the film follows the story of Jeremy Horne, a criminal mastermind capable of convincing just about anyone to do his bidding.

Determined to pull off one last daring job, Horne hatches a plan to steal a staggering $80 million by hacking into the First National Bank of Chicago system. The story is set against the backdrop of 1988, a time when cybersecurity was far from the levels it’s reached today.

Horne’s scheme involves recruiting employees from the bank to execute the heist. As the narrative unfolds, viewers discover the deeply personal reasons compelling each member of this unlikely criminal crew to follow Horne’s lead.

The recently released trailer offers a glimpse into the roller-coaster ride that awaits viewers. It kicks off with Horne briefing his team as they get ready to board a plane, ordering them to “board separately” and “don’t speak to each other.”

“I’ll page you when we land,” he tells everyone.

Authorities rush toward Horne and one of his recruits, Horne tells him “run.”

Heist 88 boasts a large ensemble cast. Vance stars alongside Keesha Sharp, who portrays Bree Barnes, a political consultant with a hidden criminal side and a romantic connection to Jeremy.

Keith David takes on the role of Buddha Ray, a master safecracker, while Xavier Clyde plays Danny Pugh, a nerdy comic-book collector, and Bentley Green assumes the role of Marshall King, a confident and energetic house-music DJ.

The cast is rounded out by Nican Robinson as Rick Windom, a dedicated bank employee, and Precious Way as LaDonna Sanders, an ambitious bank employee who often goes unnoticed by her peers.

The film loosely follows the story of real-life criminal ringleader Armand Moore.

Directed by Menhaj Huda and penned by Dwayne Johnson-Cochran, Heist 88 is executive produced by Angela Bassett, Courtney B. Vance, Lynnette Ramirez, Floris Bauer, and Dwayne Johnson-Cochran, alongside Van Toffler and Barry Barclay.

Amal Baggar, Mychael Chinn, Donny Hugo Herran, Marcia Landsdown, and Janee Dabney also serve as executive producers, with Carlos Lugo overseeing production.

Heist 88  premieres on streaming and On Demand Sept. 29 for Showtime and Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, before debuting on cable Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
