Halle Berry Packs a Punch in Trailer for Directorial Debut ‘Bruised’ (Video)

Halle Berry is on the ropes in the new trailer for her directorial debut, Bruised.

In the trailer released Thursday by Netflix, the Academy Award-winning actress stars as washed up mixed martial arts fighter Jackie Justice. Jackie’s life is in shambles and she’s sitting on a sidewalk when two men recognize her.

“Yo. That’s Jackie Justice! She used to be famous,” the men say.

A desperate Jackie is pushed by her boyfriend Desi (Adan Canto) to join an underground fight. During the match, she catches the eye of a fight league promoter (Shamier Anderson) who thinks she still has what it takes to get back into the ring.

In her personal life, Jackie unexpectedly finds out her son’s father died and now her child Manny (Danny Boyd, Jr.) must come live with her.

With Manny back in her life, it’s even more important that Jackie get back into shape and fight for her family.

“You scared? I used to be scared too,” Jackie says to her son as he looks at a promotional photo for her fighting match.

The cast also includes Adriane Lenox, Sheila Atim, Valentina Shevchenko, Lela Loren, Nikolai Nikolaef and Stephen McKinley Henderson.

As previously reported, Berry trained extensively for the role and suffered an injury during production back in 2019.

The drama is written by Michelle Rosenfarb and produced by Basil Iwanyk, Brad Feinstein, Guymon Casady, Linda Gottlieb, Erica Lee, Gillian G. Hormel, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis and Terry Douglas.

Bruised will be released in select theaters on Nov. 17 before it streams on Netflix Nov. 24.
