Nickelodeon Studios and Paramount+ have added several new characters to Good Burger 2.

Franchise newcomers Lil Rel Howery, Kamaia Fairburn, Jillian Bell, Alex R. Hibbert, Fabrizio Guido, Elizabeth Hinkler, and Anabel Graetz are all joining the cast of the film, which will reunite original stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell.

The sequel to the iconic 1990s comedy, Good Burger, follows Dexter (Thompson) and cashier Ed (Mitchell) as they reunite in the present day at fast food restaurant Good Burger with a new group of employees.

Other original cast members reprising their roles include Josh Server as Fizz, Lori Beth Denberg as Connie Muldoonand, and Carmen Electra as Roxanne, producers announced in a recent press release.

Good Burger premiered on July 25, 1997. The film followed an absent-minded teenager and his new co-worker as they tried to save the aging burger joint where they worked from closing after a new burger restaurant opened across the street.

The movie was based on a sketch from Nickelodeon series All That starring Thompson and Mitchell alongside Amanda Bynes and Nick Cannon.

Good Burger earned $23.7 million at the box office and became a classic with fans.

In May of this year, Nickelodeon Studios and Paramount+ announced production on the sequel was getting underway.

Here’s the official description for the new film: “Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.”

Good Burger 2 is produced by Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Phil Traill (The Middle, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) directs from a script written by Kevin Kopelow & Heath Seifert (All That, Good Burger), who also serve as executive producers alongside John Ryan Jr. from Artists for Artists.

Nickelodeon is overseeing production on the film, which is expected to premiere later this year on Paramount+.
