Kenan Thompson now has a place in Hollywood history.
The actor and longtime Saturday Night Live comic was honored with the 2,728th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, as his family and friends looked on.
“This is very surreal. It’s amazing,” Thompson said. “I can’t thank everybody that’s here enough. I never thought any of this would be possible. I just wanted to act and entertain and have a good time and put smiles on my family members’ faces, and that grew into the world now, apparently. I don’t know man, it’s just an honor and a privilege.”

Thompson’s name is located on the sidewalk at 6627 Hollywood Blvd., next to the star of SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels.
“Going in next to the GOAT, Lorne Michaels, that’s really cool,” said Thompson, who is the longest-running cast member of the NBC sketch comedy series.
Thompson also gave a shoutout to Kel Mitchell, his co-star on Kenan and Kel, saying the actor was working and unable to attend the ceremony.
Thompson was cheered on by his two daughters, SNL alum Leslie Jones, former SNL writer J. B. Smoove, and actor Josh Server, who co-starred with Thompson on the Nickelodeon all-kid sketch comedy series All That.
“From the bottom of my heart, to everybody down the street, I see y’all. I appreciate y’all,” Thompson said just before his star was unveiled.
This is the actor and comedian’s latest honor. In 2018, he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the SNL song “Come Back, Barack.”
Earlier this week, he was named host of the 2022 Emmy Awards, which air live from downtown Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 12 on NBC.
