Garcelle Beauvais, who made history as the first Black woman to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, is stepping away from the show.
The model and actress, 58, known for her roles on The Jamie Foxx Show, NYPD Blue, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, announced her departure from the Bravo reality series in a video she posted to Instagram on Tuesday, March 25.
“I have some news. I have decided to leave Beverly Hills,” Beauvais said in the video. “It’s been a wild ride. Some amazing things have happened, some hard things have happened — but it’s been a ride nevertheless.”

She cited her family and career as the main reasons for her exit.
“One of the reasons why I’m leaving is my family, my boys. Their last year of high school is next year, and I want to be a part of that. And Jaid is starting a new career, and I want to be a part of that, too,” she explained. “And secondly, I have the most exciting projects that I am developing, producing, and acting in. I can’t tell you anything now, but you’ll know soon.”
Before signing off, Beauvais thanked RHOBH executive producer Andy Cohen, Bravo, NBC Universal, the crew, her castmates, and fans.
“Andy Cohen says I can come back any time, the door will always be open, so you never know, I might pop back in sometime,” she added.
Beauvais joined the hit series in season 10 and acknowledged the importance of bringing diversity to the cast, calling it an “awesome opportunity to exemplify the fact that Black Girl Magic lives and thrives in every zip code!” as previously reported.
Her departure comes one season after an emotional moment in season 13, when her son Jax told her she wasn’t present enough as a mother, something Beauvais later admitted made her “feel like a failure.”
The Haitian-American actress is a mother of three and shares twin sons Jax and Jaid with ex-husband Mike Nilon.
Outside of reality TV, Beauvais has been expanding her career as a TV producer. Last year, she extended her deal with Lifetime, to executive produce three original movies following the success of Black Girl Missing, which she also starred in.
Her exit was announced just hours before the season 14 finale of RHOBH.
