Dawn Robinson has responded to Jermaine Dupri’s comments questioning why she calls her car home.

Earlier this month the En Vogue founding member said in a video she posted to YouTube that she has spent the past three years living in her car.

Her comments went viral, prompting many people to weigh in on her living situation, including Dupri.

During an Instagram live session on March 13, Dupri questioned what Robinson said and zeroed in on a comment she made about her assistant offering her help over the years.

“Having an assistant is not something that you should even think about if you don’t have no money,” Dupri said. “And when she said that, I said, ‘Oh s–t, wait a minute, wait a minute… it changed my whole vibe of what I was watching. Because, ain’t no goddamn way she got an assistant and she ain’t got no money. Ain’t no way.”

The So So Def Recordings founder added, “Ain’t nobody getting ready to sit up under you and just kick it for nothing. It might be some people that will stick there for a little bit, but three years… It don’t make sense.”

Fast forward to the Tuesday, March 25 episode of  “Way Up with Angela Yee,” and Robinson said Dupri should mind his own business.

“I was like, first of all, I’ve only met him once in my life. I remember being around, but not directly meeting him,” she said, adding, “I was shocked. Artist to artist… we don’t attack each other like that. You would swear that he knows me directly, and he knows my story. It’s like where are you coming from? But it was a shock, and some people just have to be negative and he doesn’t know my story so he’s assuming. Instead of reaching out to me directly.”

The Grammy-nominated singer told Yee “car life” is a choice and the situation is only temporary.

In another part of the interview, she was asked if she would consider returning to En Vogue, which continues to book shows.

The singer said she was “tired” of the group because they always sign bad business deals.

“They pick the wrong deal every single time, so they know I’m not going to come back and deal with their shenanigans again,” she said.
