The First Wives Club is coming back for a second season on BET streaming service BET+, executive producer Tracy Oliver confirmed this week.
“Perfect Thanksgiving surprise. First Wives Club season 2!!!” Oliver tweeted, along with a link to a news article about the renewal.
The series, starring Ryan Michelle Bathe, Jill Scott, and Michelle Buteau, is an adaptation of the 1996 film by the same name featuring Diane Keaton, Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn.

Like the movie, the show follows three women who join together after their marriages fall apart. They find strength in their sisterhood, along with a little revenge.
Mark Tallman, RonReaco Lee, and Malik Yoba play the husbands on the BET+ version.
Girls Trip co-writer Oliver developed the show for television. She also serves as a writer and executive produces with Karen Rosenfelt, and Scott Rudin who was a producer on the First Wives Club movie.
According to BET, all ten episodes of the first season were written and directed by women.
The series was one of the original offerings when BET+ launched in September. Among the other original content on the platform are the two Tyler Perry series, The Oval and Sistas.
BET+ plans more new offerings including the thriller Sacrifice, starring Paula Patton as a powerful entertainment lawyer and fixer.
The two-hour film is written, directed and executive produced by Chris Stokes and will begin streaming Dec. 19.
