Eddie Murphy teams up with a new generation of comedy stars in the upcoming action movie The Pickup.
The Amazon MGM Studios film also stars Pete Davidson (SNL) and Keke Palmer (One of Them Days), and follows mismatched armored truck drivers Russell (Murphy) and Travis (Davidson), whose routine cash pickup turns to chaos.
According to the official description, Russell and Travis “are ambushed by ruthless criminals led by savvy mastermind Zoe (Keke Palmer), with plans that go way beyond the cash cargo.”

Eva Longoria, Marshawn Lynch, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, Andrew Dice Clay, and Ismael Cruz Córdova also have roles in the film.
Tim Story, the director behind fan favorite movies Barbershop and Ride Along, helms the film from a script written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider.
Eddie Murphy produces alongside John Davis, John Fox, Tim Story, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster.
The Pickup arrives on Prime Video Aug. 6, 2025.
Murphy will be very busy over the next few months, per his IMDb page,
He’s working on Shrek 5, which will be released in 2026. The actor and comedian is also starring in a Pink Panther reboot as Inspector Clouseau.
Plus, there have been multiple reports that he’s signed on to play George Clinton in an upcoming biopic for Amazon MGM Studios.
The actor’s Dreamgirls director Bill Condon is helming the film. Murphy picked up his first Oscar nomination the they worked together on Dreamgirls.
Murphy and George Clinton are among the producers on the biopic.
