Sean “Diddy” Combs wants a sexual abuse lawsuit filed by music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones thrown out of court.

Combs’ legal team filed a motion to dismiss Jones’ $30 million complaint on Monday, Aug. 26, in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Jones filed the complaint in February 2024, and alleged that the Bad Boy Records founder harassed, assaulted, drugged and threatened him.

Weeks later in an amendment to his complaint, Jones alleged Diddy was part of a “RICO enterprise,” employed a “drug mule,” had a group of women with ties to the music industry on his payroll for sex work, and was involved in a “sex trafficking venture.”

According to Monday’s filing obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the document seeks to dismiss Lil Rod’s amended complaint with prejudice, claiming that he is seeking a payday.

“Mr. Jones’s lawsuit is pure fiction — a shameless attempt to create media hype and extract a quick settlement,” Combs’ lawyer Erica Wolff said in a statement on Monday. “There was no RICO conspiracy and Mr. Jones was not threatened, groomed, assaulted or trafficked. We look forward to proving – in a court of law – that all of Mr. Jones’s claims are made up and must be dismissed.”

In response to the filing, Lil Rod’s attorney Tyrone A. Blackburn called the motion to dismiss a “billing exercise” by Diddy’s new legal team.

“It is a weak attempt to fill their pockets before he is indicted, and they decide to haul ass, just like his five previous lawyers did,” Blackburn said in a statement.

Jones has until Sept. 9, to respond to the motion to dismiss.

In his complaint, Jones said he produced nine tracks on Diddy’s The Love Album: Off the Grid, which was released in September 2023.

Jones stated that he lived and traveled the world with Combs from September 2022 to November 2023. He said during his time with the mogul, he was a victim of “constant unsolicited and unauthorized groping and touching.”

Jones also accused actor Cuba Gooding Jr. of sexual assault in the complaint. Gooding immediately denied his allegations.

The music producer additionally claimed that he worked as a photographer and recorded “hours” of video and audio of Combs and his inner circle involved in alleged “illegal activity.”

Diddy has denied all of the allegations made by Jones and several others, in a growing number of abuse lawsuits filed since November 2023.
