Denzel Washington is ready to return as retired government assassin Robert McCall.
The 69-year-old actor revealed during a Winter 2024 Esquire cover interview, that he’s signed up for two more Equalizer films.
“I told them I would do another Equalizer, and we’re doing 4 and 5,” said Washington.
“More people are happy about that — people love those daggone Equalizers,” he said jokingly.

The two-time Oscar winner later explained what the action series means to him and to his fans.
“I’ve come to realize that the Equalizer films are for me, too, because they’re for the people,” Washington said.
“They want me to go get the bad guys. ‘We can’t get them, so you go get them.’ And I say, ‘Okay, I’ll get them! Just wait right there. I’ll be right back,” continued the actor.
Based on the 1980s TV series of the same name, The Equalizer films hit theaters in 2014, 2018, and in 2023.
The last one – The Equalizer 3 – scored the second-biggest Labor Day opening weekend of all time, according to Entertainment Weekly.
All three Equalizer films were directed by Antoine Fuqua.
Besides the Equalizer movies, Fuqua and Washington have worked on a few other projects together, including the 2001 film Training Day, which earned Washington his second Academy Award.
While fans wait for Equalizer 4, they can see Washington in the Ridley Scott epic sequel, Gladiator II on Nov. 22.
