Denzel Washington seems to have found his next role.
While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm there will be a third film in the Black Panther franchise, the Oscar-winning actor indicated that there is indeed a third movie in the works and he’s going to be part of it.
While doing press for his new film, Gladiator II, Washington was a guest on Australia’s version of Today, where he revealed that director Ryan Coogler is writing a part for him.
“At this point in my career, I’m only interested in working with the best, I don’t know how many more films I will make, probably not that many. I want to do things that I haven’t done,” Washington said.
“I played Othello at 22, I’m now going to play it at 70,” he continued. “After that, I’m playing Hannibal. After that, I’ve been talking with [British filmmaker] Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther.”

The first Black Panther film was released in 2018 and starred Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, and Michael B. Jordan.
The critically acclaimed superhero saga grossed over $1.3 billion at the global box office, scored three Oscar wins in technical categories, and became Marvel’s first film to receive a best picture nomination.
The sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released in 2022 — two years after Boseman died at age 43 in 2020 from colon cancer. It grossed $859 million globally.
While fans anxiously wait to see Washington in a Black Panther film, they can go to theaters on Nov. 22 to see him in Gladiator II.
